3-Minute Survival Plan

In any emergency, these 5 steps could save your life. Read this now, before you need it.

  1. Find Shelter

Move away from immediate danger. Get indoors, underground, or behind solid cover. Any shelter is better than none.

  2. Secure Water

Find safe drinking water. Boil, filter, or use purification tablets if tap water is unsafe. You need at least 2 liters per day.

  3. Check Injuries

Check yourself and others for injuries. Stop severe bleeding with firm pressure. Do not move anyone with a possible spinal injury.

  4. Contact Family

Try to reach your family or emergency contact. Use SMS if calls fail — texts use less bandwidth. Agree on a meeting point in advance.

  5. Get Information

Listen to official emergency broadcasts — radio, TV, or alerts. Follow instructions from emergency services. Avoid rumors.
